Never go alone on a ghost hunt. Take along a partner for safety and peace of mind.

Always say a prayer of protection before and after a ghost hunt.

Ask the spirits of the dead for permission to take their photos.

Don't walk into an area snapping pictures right off the bat. Give those ghosts that are present some time to get used to you.

A ghost hunt is no place for cigarettes and alcohol. Cigarette smoke looks like ghostly forms in photos and alcohol can distort your senses.

No Ouija boards or seances during or after an investigation if on site.

Always conduct your investigations in a professional manner.

Respect posted property, ask permission and do not trespass.
Take along a notebook to record significant occurrences. Begin by logging in the starting time and weather conditions etc. Also make note of surrounding lights so as to not confuse them with anomalies later on in the pictures. Each group should take their own notes and compare afterwards.

Keep in mind that a lot of the places you will be investigating will be secluded.  You should always bring along some form of protection. You never know who's watching you.

Remove all dust, spots, fingerprints from camera lens.

Remove or wear the camera strap so it does not hang loose.

Keep fingers away from the lens of the camera.

Keep long hair away from the lens of the camera.

Do not take photos from moving vehicles on dusty roads.

Do not take photos while walking on dusty roads.

Avoid shooting into the bright areas for resulting lens flare.

Avoid shooting with flash at reflective or shinny surfaces.

Avoid shooting when foreign objects are floating near camera.

EVP (electronic voice phenomena). Take along an audio recorder and as you are recording ask questions to spirit. Pause for an answer. Record in a remote location for around 20 minutes or so.
Always use fresh audiotapes for EVP recordings and fresh batteries for your devices.

Positive Mental Attitude is very important for all investigations.

Skeptical minds will generate negative energy during an investigation.

Follow the Lunar cycles for conducing investigations for best results.
